    This semester, the CWA Speaker Series will host two talks on the CU 抖阴传媒在线 campus. The first will聽feature聽Daniel Traub,聽NYC-based filmmaker and photographer on Oct. 27.聽Then on Nov. 3, the CWA will host聽Vice President of Data Strategy for Twitter Chris Moody. Both events are free and open to students and the community.
  • International Open Access Week 2016 - Open in Action
    This week,聽Oct. 24 to Oct.聽30, is International Open Access Week, and the University聽Libraries and the Open Science Interest Group are聽co-hosting several events on campus. This year鈥檚 theme 鈥淥pen in Action鈥 is about taking concrete聽steps to open up research and scholarship to聽students, researchers and the general public.
  • Visiting artist James Bailey, map-inspired art
    James Bailey鈥檚 work examines maps and mapping as both objects and acts by exploring the systems and conventions of depicting, charting, categorizing and interpreting our environment and experiences through both traditional and experimental printmaking processes. Lecture is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6:30 p.m.

  • 2016 Distinguished Research Lecturership
    David Korevaar, College of Music, and Thomas T. Veblen, Geography Department, have been selected as recipients of the 2016 Distinguished Research Lectureship, which is among the highest honors bestowed by the faculty upon a faculty member at CU 抖阴传媒在线.

  • Julie Louise Gerberding, M.D
    On Oct. 18, the BioFrontiers Institute will honor Julie Louise Gerberding, M.D., M.P.H., with the 2016 Charlie Butcher Award. Dr. Gerberding was the first woman to be appointed Director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). She will give a free talk 鈥淔ighting microbial terrorists: From Anthrax to Zika鈥 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18.

    Sixty seconds to pitch your big idea and excite a crowd of 200. Could you do it? On Thursday, Oct. 13, 30 teams will face this challenge as they participate in the annual New Venture Challenge Quick Pitch Night.

    How do modern women in developing countries experience sexuality and love? Speaking from a unique outsider-insider perspective, Sanyu A. Mojola will show how the entanglement of love, money, and the transformation of girls into "consuming women" lies at the heart of women鈥檚 coming-of-age and health crises. Thursday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
