Jazz strings
Welcome to the jazz strings studio at the 抖阴传媒在线 College of Music!
Our jazz and American Roots strings program trains violin, viola and cello students in the essential skills for success as modern, non-classical string players. Students focus on ergonomic technique, tone production, improvisation and soloing concepts, accompaniment approaches, stylistic versatility and related topics鈥攊ncluding the history of jazz and American Roots music and the role of their instruments within those traditions. Through individualized instruction and creative exploration, students develop their own unique voice and artistic vision.
Jazz and American Roots strings students enrich their applied study with jazz-focused coursework in the CU 抖阴传媒在线 Thompson Jazz Studies Program鈥recognized multiple times by DownBeat magazine for excellence in improvisation, arranging, composition and ensemble performance.
