She is co-advised by Dr. Amy Javernick-Will and Dr. Abbie Liel as part of the GAANN fellowship program.ÌýÌý
Why I chose to pursue a PhD:Ìý
Anya’s interest in global development and civil engineering began in her undergraduate education, working on pedestrian footbridge builds with the non-profit Engineers in Action (EIA). Throughout those four years, she obtained cultural relations skills, project management experience, and mentorship opportunities with EIA, alongside academic and internship experience in structural engineering and climate resilience. She wanted to continue her education to combine her passions for global development and climate adaptation by researching infrastructure resilience and natural disaster recovery.Ìý
