Mosaic is a semester-long cohort program designed to unite first-generation college students from听PES听who are globally conscious leaders and are eager to make a positive impact on their community.听

As part of a听small group, students in the Mosaic program can participate in civic, leadership and community-building opportunities throughout the fall semester. Students will also have听access to a peer mentor who can provide guidance and resources to succeed at CU 抖阴传媒在线.

Program requirements
Students who participate in the Mosaic program are expected to engage in the following requirements:
- Meet with a peer mentor at least two times at the beginning and the end of the fall semester.
- Enroll and participate in FYXP 2200 (1-credit, semester class) during the fall semester.
- Participate in the summer Pre-Arrival Program, Aug. 13-17, 2026.
- Be enrolled as a first-year student in the Program in Exploratory Studies.

Become a Mosaic Student Leader
The听Program in Exploratory Studies is looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated undergraduate students to serve as a Mosaic Leader - Engagement Specialist (ML鈥檚). ML鈥檚 work in close cooperation with PES staff to primarily support students in the Mosaic program but also support first-generation undergraduate students in our program in a variety of capacities.
The Mosaic Intercultural Leadership program is a program within the Program in Exploratory Studies that unites first-generation college students who are globally conscious leaders, eager to positively impact their communities. The program offers students the ability to connect with other students, build community and connect with valuable resources that will support their academic journey.听
The Mosaic Leader will be an integral part in helping first-gen students navigate their first semester at CU 抖阴传媒在线 through formal and informal mentoring opportunities. ML鈥檚 will be responsible for planning and executing community building programs that build a sense of community amongst Mosaic participants. ML鈥檚 will also be one of the primary resources for Mosaic participants and help students determine goals and connect with impactful resources available at CU 抖阴传媒在线.听
Primary Focus:听This ML will primarily assist with sending out our first-generation student newsletter, meet with students periodically throughout the semester in both one-on-one and group settings, and also assist in the execution and development of programs in 抖阴传媒在线 and the surrounding communities.听
Based on NACE鈥檚 Competencies for a Career Ready Workforce, in this position student leaders will do the following:
- Understand the importance of and demonstrate verbal, written and non-verbal communication skills and abilities
- Plan, initiate, manage and execute community building opportunities that foster belonging and inclusion
- Collaborate with others to reach common goals听
- Make decisions and solve problems using critical thinking and problem-solving skills听
- Identify and refer to resources that embrace the unique lived experiences of students at CU 抖阴传媒在线
- Pay: Student employees will be classified as student-hourly and earn a wage of $16.82 per hour; both work-study and non-work-study positions are available (work study is preferred but not required)
- Hours: 6-10 hours per week; increase in hours available during August. Students are not expected to work during major CU holidays, reading days or published breaks.
- Benefits:听As a student hourly employee, you are eligible for FAMLI, jury duty pay, sick leave and may be subject to enrollment in the Student Employment Retirement Plan (SERP); Optional Savings Plans 403B, 457, 401k. Sick leave accrues at a rate of 0.034 hours per every one hour worked. You are not eligible for fringe benefits such as vacation, unemployment, paid holiday leave and/or tuition remission. .
- Position will start Aug. 10, 2026
- Position will end Dec. 11, 2026, with the potential opportunity for continued employment in spring 2027 based on program needs
- Attend paid Mosaic Leader Training (Aug. 10-12, 2026; 9 a.m.鈥5 p.m. each day)
- Attend and support Mosaic Pre-Arrival Program (Aug. 14-17, 2026; 8:30 a.m.鈥5 p.m. each day)听
- Attend and support Exploratory Studies College Day Program (Aug. 19, 2026; 8 a.m.鈥5 p.m.)听
- Attend weekly scheduled one-on-one meetings with supervisor and team meetings听
- Collaborate with PES staff member and other Mosaic Leaders to help co-facilitate discussions and presentation within FYXP 2200, Design Thinking Seminar
- Help develop and execute a weekly first-gen PES newsletter听
- Recruit and encourage PES first-gen students/mentees to participate in PES programs and services, connect them to campus-wide programs and services
- Reach out and maintain communication with your first-gen/mentee group at least once a week (text, email, Zoom etc.)
- Plan and host monthly events centered on community building, holistic wellbeing and connecting students to campus resources.
- Engage consistently with a small group of PES first-gen students to mentor and support their personal and academic transition to CU
- Be a currently enrolled, undergraduate student in good standing at CU 抖阴传媒在线, graduating no earlier than spring 2027. Students who are starting at CU 抖阴传媒在线 summer 2026 or fall 2026 are not eligible for this position
- Mosaic Leaders must possess at least a 2.7 or above cumulative GPA to be eligible for the role
- Experience using software such as the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and creative technology such as Canva, Adobe Suite
- Excellent communication skills, high level of personal responsibility and resourcefulness and drive for self-motivation and independence
- Ability to work effectively and non-judgmentally with diverse populations
- Flexibility to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to problem-solve and ask for help
- Adhere to FERPA regulations, which includes confidentiality of student information
- Serve as a role model and ambassador for CU 抖阴传媒在线
- Flexibility to jump in where needed (front desk, events, FYXP classes, advising, etc.)
- Must have strong desire to mentor and assist students with their personal and academic adjustment to CU 抖阴传媒在线, including but not limited to helping students explore study skills, time management, balance, the importance of campus and community involvement, engagement, making healthy choices, personal decision making, etc.
