Why did you choose Leeds?��
I knew I wanted to study at Leeds when I first stepped on campus for a tour. I got that “gut feeling” immediately; I knew I would be calling CU home for the next 4 years. I had read about what Leeds represented and I wanted to be a part of that learning.��

Could you share an experience (or two) that was particularly memorable? ����
My favorite moment had to be earning a “star” in my TQM (Total Quality Management) class. The professor rarely gave out stars so when you got one, you felt recognized and proud. I remember when he took a full page to draw out the star. The professor was smart and tough, which of course helped me remember what he taught that much more. He was my favorite professor and really made me think about improving processes. This class had the most impact on me since TQM is a key component in hospitality management.��

Where has life taken you since you graduated Leeds? ��
Life has taken me to me to sunny Florida for the last 13 years, working for the world’s leading hospitality company. I’ve also taken on a few positions over the years in different locations within the company, including beautiful Aruba. My favorite and most fulfilling role is my current one, Director of Revenue, based out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. It’s a role that has really allowed me to use tap into what I learned at Leeds, including planning budgets, identifying market trends and developing strategies for growth.��

What is one piece of advice/best practice that has stuck with you throughout your career? ��
My boss and mentor used to say, “if you start off your journey negatively, you will not end up with a positive outcome.” While he said it jokingly to us in a staff meeting, it has stayed with me for years. Starting off each day with a positive attitude combined with trust in your experience and abilities will position you to conquer whatever challenges come your way. Plus, we’re in hospitality so “no” is never an answer. We are accustomed to responding with recognized limitations and a possible resolution all in the same sentence.��
