2026 Alumni Award Winners

Dr. Susan Taylor Mayne (Chem鈥82)

George Norlin Award

A trailblazer in nutrition science and public health, Susan鈥檚 leadership helped eliminate industrial trans fats from the U.S. food supply 鈥 an achievement linked to thousands of lives saved each year. This path to shaping some of the nation鈥檚 most influential nutrition policies started in CU 抖阴传媒在线鈥檚 chemistry labs where she became听motivated to improve health through diet.听

After serving three decades as a professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, Susan became the director of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.听In her role, which spanned three presidential administrations, she shaped national policy on added sugars, sodium reduction and food safety.听

We鈥檙e honored to celebrate Dr. Susan Taylor Mayne and her accomplishments with the George Norlin Award at the 96th Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony this spring.听

Dave Sheanin (MBA鈥99)

Alumni Recognition Award

Since moving to 抖阴传媒在线 in 1993, Dave has been a pillar of the community. After earning his MBA from the Leeds School of Business in 1999, he has spent the last two decades guiding student-athletes as assistant coach of the CU Club Triathlon Team.

Beyond coaching, Dave dedicates his time and resources to making triathlons accessible, maintaining equipment for aspiring athletes and volunteering with Athletes in Tandem, an organization helping athletes with physical limitations experience running, cycling and triathlon events.

Dave has also supported the YMCA Kids Triathlon, helping more than 300 young athletes compete each year, and coached elite athletes through D3 Multisport as a certified coach for USA Triathlon and Training Peaks. His mentorship extends far beyond sports, inspiring students and athletes to grow as leaders and individuals.

Dave Sheanin is the recipient of the Alumni Recognition Award and will be honored this spring at the 96th Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony.

Aaditya Pore (AeroEngr, CompSci鈥25)

Forever Buffs Student Award

Aaditya 鈥 known as Aadi 鈥 is a dual aerospace engineering and computer science major whose impact spans research, innovation and student leadership. As a NASA Pathways intern, he鈥檚 contributed to advances in additive manufacturing, materials science and engine component design 鈥 work shaping the future of flight and space exploration.

On campus, Aadi serves as president of the Senior Class Council and previously led CU鈥檚 Legislative Council, advocating for students, shaping policy and stewarding key campus initiatives. He鈥檚 also a CU Graduating Leader of the Year and founded the CU Gateway Club, connecting students to high-impact internships, including at NASA.

Beyond CU, Aadi co-founded FreePPEKC, a nonprofit that delivered more than 8,000 units of 3D-printed PPE during the pandemic. His research in soft robotics and actuator design, along with top honors at major hackathons, reflects his commitment to advancing STEM for the public good.

Aadi is a winner of the Forever Buffs Student Award and will be honored this spring at the 96th Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony.

Camden Dempsey (Fin, Mktg鈥25; MRealEs鈥26)

Forever Buffs Student Award

Known as 鈥淭he Governor鈥 for CU Football, Camden spent five years as a trusted leader and spokesperson connecting athletics with campus life.听

He excelled off the field as a Boettcher Scholar, Leeds Scholar, President鈥檚 Leadership Class member and co-president of the Big 12 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, advocating for more than 5,000 student-athletes.

He also co-founded VerEstate, the digital title and closing startup that won the 2025 CU New Venture Challenge Finals.

With more than 11 CU degrees in his family, he carries a proud Buffs legacy with humility and purpose. Camden is the recipient of this year鈥檚 Forever Buffs Student Award and will be recognized this spring at the 96th Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony.

Dr. Stephen Kissler (ApMath鈥14; MA鈥14)

Kalpana Chawla Outstanding Recent Graduate Award

Stephen鈥檚 path began at CU 抖阴传媒在线 as a Boettcher Scholar, where research in applied mathematics and infectious disease modeling set the foundation for a career focused on pandemic preparedness.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Stephen became a leading voice in public health. At the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, he published landmark research on transmission dynamics, including a top-ranked science article, and consulted for groups like the NBA and Partners in Health. His expertise helped shape equitable vaccination strategies and real-time pandemic decision making.

Now back at CU 抖阴传媒在线 as a faculty member, Stephen leads a lab developing digital tools for outbreak surveillance through NSF and CDC funding. He continues to mentor students, strengthen epidemiological literacy and contribute to global health research and education.

Dr. Stephen Kissler is the recipient of the Kalpana Chawla Outstanding Recent Graduate Award and will be honored this spring at the 96th Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony.

Dale Farrand (AeroEngr鈥93)

Leanne Skupa-Lee Award

For more than a decade, Dale has been one of the most dedicated and wide-reaching volunteer leaders in the Forever Buffs community.

After graduating in 1993 and serving 25 years in the U.S. Army, Dale brought his trademark leadership, humility and enthusiasm to CU 抖阴传媒在线 alumni engagement 鈥 most notably as leader for the Forever Buffs Washington, D.C. chapter.

Over his tenure, he has organized more than 50 events, building an inclusive, welcoming community for Buffs across the D.C. region. Dale also helped raise thousands of dollars in scholarship support for CU students from the area.

Dale sits on the Forever Buffs Advisory Board, regularly travels to 抖阴传媒在线 for meetings and volunteer opportunities and serves as a regional network ambassador for the College of Engineering and Applied Science. Beloved by staff, fellow volunteers and alumni, Dale is known for his positivity, reliability and commitment to connecting Buffs.

Dale is the recipient of the Leanne Skupa-Lee Award and will be honored this spring at the 96th Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony.听

David Martinez

Robert L. Stearns Award

For more than three decades, David has been a cornerstone of student success, community-building and inclusive excellence at CU 抖阴传媒在线.

A proud Latino from Longmont and longtime Denver resident, David joined CU in 1990 and has dedicated his career to creating pathways of opportunity for first-generation, rural and marginalized students.

As program coordinator and manager in the College of Communication, Media, Design and Information, he leads the Pathways to Excellence and CMDI Connections summer programs 鈥 transformative initiatives that have elevated student achievement and supported hundreds of Buffs through their graduations and beyond.听

Beloved by students and colleagues alike, David is known for his warmth, generosity and unwavering commitment to helping every Buff feel seen, supported and capable of success.

David is the recipient of the Robert L. Stearns Award and will be honored this spring at the 96th Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony.

Russell L. Moore

Robert L. Stearns Award

Over the past 15 years, Russell 鈥淩uss鈥 Moore has shaped CU 抖阴传媒在线鈥檚 academic mission, strengthened student success and advanced a culture of innovation.听

Under his leadership as provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, CU achieved a No. 5 national ranking for university startup creation, launched the College of Media, Communication and Information as CU鈥檚 first new college in 50 years and reorganized the College of Arts and Sciences. He also championed initiatives that drove CU鈥檚 second fall retention rate to a record 89%

Before stepping down from his role as provost in 2025, he听guided CU through pivotal moments, including the COVID-19 pandemic. During his tenure, enrollment grew 15% and sponsored research funding rose 80% to $684.2 million.

Russell L. Moore is the recipient of the Robert L. Stearns Award and will be honored this spring at the 96th Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony.
