Each spring the ��ý�� Faculty Assembly (BFA) awards up to nine members of the ��ý�� Faculty Senate with awards for faculty excellence, recognizing their outstanding work.

The award nominators come from CU ��ý�� faculty peers and administrators who recognize the hard work the nominees put into their classrooms, research, community and beyond. Up to three awards in each category will be granted for excellence in the areas of teaching; leadership and service; and research, scholarly and creative work.

The chancellor provides financial support for these prestigious awards, and a ceremony in the spring recognizes the winners and features a keynote by the Hazel Barnes awardee for that year. Each winner receives a $5,000 monetary prize, along with a commemorative engraved plaque and gift bag.

Nomination packets may be delivered in electronic form as a single PDF file. Only complete packets will be accepted. Nominations open Dec. 1 and close Jan. 31. Please visit the BFA website for complete nomination instructions.

Each spring, the ��ý�� Faculty Assembly awards up to nine members of the senate with awards for faculty excellence, recognizing their outstanding work.

During finals week, the Buff Bus will be running an expanded schedule to accommodate students' needs. The routes and schedules are as follows:

Saturday	Dec. 6	6:30 a.m.–2 p.m.	Will Vill buses will be running the weekend event reroute to accommodate the Colder��ý�� event on campus
		2–11 p.m.	Regular service
		11 p.m.–1 a.m.	Late-night service
Sunday	Dec. 7	10 a.m.–11 p.m.
Monday–Wednesday	Dec. 8–10	6:30 a.m.–11 p.m.

Are you planning on graduating at the end of this semester? With the semester nearing completion and winter degree conferral just around the corner, here's what you need to know to ensure you are on track and ready to celebrate.

Apply to graduate

The application process for graduation is of utmost importance. Soon-to-be graduates are encouraged to check in with their advisors to ensure all credit requirements have been met and to inform their dean’s office of their plans.

The last day for undergraduate students to submit, update or cancel their fall 2025 application form is Friday, Dec. 5, at 11:59 p.m. MST.

Winter conferral information

Be sure to check out the winter conferral information available on the commencement website. Find essential information on everything from caps and gowns and graduation announcements to how to stay connected as a Forever Buff.

If you wish to purchase academic regalia for photos, participation in a recognition ceremony or attendance at the spring commencement ceremony, please visit the CU Book Store. Undergraduate regalia is available for purchase at the CU Book Store during store hours and can also be ordered online for in-store pick-up. Shipping options are also available; deadlines and rates vary.

Recognition ceremonies

While no campuswide ceremony is held in the winter, many colleges, schools, departments and programs across the university will hold individual recognition ceremonies for winter graduates. See the full list of those holding winter recognition ceremonies (and those who will not).

Additionally, fall graduates are invited to the spring commencement ceremony Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Fernando Rosario-Ortiz, interim vice chancellor for academic resource management, announced today the official launch of the search for the next dean of University Libraries. The university invites nominations and applications for this leadership role by Jan. 2, 2026.

Rosario-Ortiz expressed appreciation to all who participated in the engagement sessions in October, noting the feedback gathered was instrumental in shaping the position profile for the new dean. “The insights shared by the libraries community and our deans helped us define the qualities and priorities we seek in the next dean,” he said.

How to nominate, apply for University Libraries dean

“We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, engaged and empathetic leader with a deep commitment to personnel and constituent care,” Rosario-Ortiz said. “The next dean of University Libraries at CU ��ý�� will be charged with creating a forward-looking and collaborative vision for the libraries’ future, while fostering a human-centered, inclusive and transparent organizational culture.”

Finalists for the position will be announced and invited to campus during the spring semester for presentations and meetings with a variety of university constituents. Rosario-Ortiz anticipates the new University Libraries dean will be appointed in late spring 2026.

University Libraries play a central role in supporting research, teaching and learning across campus. This search presents an opportunity to shape the future of library services and resources in alignment with the university’s academic mission and its institutional priority of fostering excellence in research and creative work.
