Earlier this month, CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß researchers tookÌýtheir annual snow survey in theÌýGreen Lakes Valley,Ìýpart of the city of ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß watershed.ÌýTheÌýmeasurements are important for the state's water andÌýfire management agencies.
The Niwot Ridge research site, maintained by CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß and funded by , has studiedÌýecological change—both natural and human-caused—for over 30 years. The siteÌýincludes and abuts the Continental Divide at more than 13,000 feet in elevation.ÌýA recentÌý$6.8 million renewal grant to CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß’sÌýÌýensures the researchÌýwill continue for another six years.
