The ��ý�� Campus Staff Council Awards & Staff Recognition Committee (ASR) is excited to announce that effective July 2025, Professional Research Assistants, Senior Professional Research Assistants, Research Associates, and Senior Research Associates are included in the Years of Service Recognition program!

The Years of Service program recognizes CU ��ý�� staff and research faculty who achieve a career milestone in the following increments: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 years. Employees who reach a career milestone will receive a certificate and letter sent to their CU email address celebrating their service and dedication. Those with 15+ years of service will also receive an Amazon Gift Card.

On behalf of ��ý�� Staff Council, the Research Faculty Special Committee, and the Awards & Staff Recognition Committee, we thank you for ALL your valuable contributions and for being an integral part of the university.

These sessions are designed specifically for conversation. You’re invited to join us to share questions, ideas, concerns, or issues you would like to bring to Staff Council’s attention. Office hours are the best space for raising new topics, seeking guidance, or connecting directly with Staff Council Representatives in an informal setting.

Every day, CU employees implement innovative ideas that save time, money, and effort across our shared systems. The CU Innovation & Efficiency (CU I&E) Awards Program recognizes and celebrates these forward-thinking solutions, providing a platform to share success stories that inspire and benefit the entire CU community.

The 2026 CU I&E Awards Program is now accepting submissions through March 31, 2026. This is your opportunity to showcase your ingenuity and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement at CU.

Last year’s submissions highlighted a diverse range of innovations, from automated academic workflows and advanced research operations to campuswide process improvements that boosted efficiency, accuracy, and communication across units.

The top prize in 2025 was awarded to Sustainability in Simulation Operations, by Emily Bishop from the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Which campus will take home this year’s top honor?

Cash prizes of up to $1,500 will be awarded to individuals or teams whose innovations stand out, as determined by our judging panel.

Every donation can save up to three lives, directly impacting individuals facing medical emergencies, surgeries, or chronic illnesses. Join us to help ensure love flows where it’s needed most!

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Hospitals and medical facilities depend on voluntary donors to maintain a steady blood supply for life-saving treatments. Your donation ensures that those in critical need receive the care they deserve.

🔹 Our Goal:

We are striving to collect 60 units per day, and with your help, we can surpass this goal and make a lasting impact in our community. Please share and encourage others to donate blood and support those in our local community.

Eat a nutritious meal and stay hydrated before your donation

Get a good night's sleep the night before

Employee Health & Well-Being has a new health innovation pilot program called CU Recharge, which debuted at the Employee Health & Wellness Fair this past November. CU Recharge is a fast, efficient, strength workout you can do in your work clothes that utilizes EGYM equipment. The EGYM circuit features one biometric hub and five smart strength machines that work together to deliver a full‑body workout. CU Recharge is inclusive of all fitness levels, provides a guided, personalized workout, is beginner-friendly, and allows you to make health and wellness a priority. Small workouts = big impact.

A short onboarding session with one of our CU Rec trainers is necessary before participating in CU Recharge. Visit the CU Recharge website to learn more about the program and EGYM.

February is American Heart Month

In addition to Staff Council’s Blood Drive, there are several events taking place during February to keep your heart healthy and improve your overall cardiovascular health.

From cooking and exercise classes to free blood pressure checks, there are a plethora of activities to keep your heart pumping. For a complete list of events, reference the Employee Health and Well-being Heart Health Website.

Getting your blood pressure checked is an easy, proactive step that helps you understand a key indicator of your heart health. CU is offering walk-in blood pressure checks!

Spotlight Series

Employee Health & Well‑Being created the Well‑being Spotlight Series, which highlights faculty and staff who model prioritizing well‑being for themselves and others. These stories celebrate their contributions while offering practical, relatable inspiration for weaving well‑being into everyday life. If you know a person who lives and breathes employee wellness, nominate them for EHWB’s spotlight series!

This March is Buffs All In—CU ��ý��’s month-long season of giving, culminating on March 31 with a celebration of philanthropy. Together through collective giving, CU ��ý��’s community empowers the university to advance student support, research, sustainability and excellence across campus and beyond. Gifts received throughout March will count toward the Buffs All In fundraising total.

There are three ways that staff can participate:

Use the Buffs All In internal toolkit to promote giving day to your unit’s constituents. Log in to Sharepoint with your CU credentials to access the toolkit.
Sign up to be a Buffs All In advocate and spread the word to your personal network. Registration will open in March, and advocates will receive access to a toolkit and personalized fundraising link to track your impact.
Find the funds you want to support and give during March. Together, each contribution builds on the others to create collective impact and help CU ��ý�� offer solutions to the issues that matter. Learn more about last year’s impact.

The CU Green Labs Awards will be presented for the twelfth year at the 2026 Campus Sustainability Summit in April.

Nominations are open to members of the CU ��ý�� campus and will be evaluated based on the following:

Overall beneficial impact and long-term impact.
How the effort set an example for others.
How the effort goes above and beyond expected job duties and what is expected by campus or in a typical research environment.

Nominations must be received by March 2, 2026.

The CU Green Labs Awards will be presented at the Campus Sustainability Summit in April and nominations must be received by March 2, 2026.

Each year, the Alumni Association awards more than $300,000 in scholarships, and we need your help to review student applications. Be a Buff who gives back by volunteering your time to help review thousands of scholarship applications for the 2026-2027 school year!

Scholarship reviews take place electronically at your own pace over a period of two weeks, and most volunteers find their initial time commitment to be four hours on average.

CU staff, research faculty and their families are invited to get hands-on with all things science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) at CU Science Discovery’s annual Family STEAMfest! This free community event features a variety of fun, hands-on STEM demonstrations and activities appropriate for a wide range of ages.

Online registration is now open for CU Science Discovery’s K-12 summer STEM camps and classes! This year’s summer programs run from June 1-July 31 and cover a wide range of STEM fields.
