Welcome to the CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Retired Faculty Association
Retirement should be viewed as a new beginning: a time to redirect and refocus our attention to interests previously unpursued, and a time to take on new, novel challenges as the landscape of the ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß campus and the landscape of higher education, in general continues to evolve in the 21st century. With this in mind, the CU Retired Faculty Association at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß (CURFA) was established in 2020 to facilitate successful retirement experiences for current and soon-to-be retirees, andÌýencourage retired faculty members to remain actively involved in academic, educational, scholarly and cultural activities on the ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß campus. The association is supported and funded by the Office of the Chancellor, the Office of the Provost , and the Office of Faculty Affairs, and is closely allied with the ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Faculty Assembly (BFA).
CURFA at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß serves as the principal venue for retired faculty members to remain involved in activities at CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß. Participating in CURFA at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß is a way for retired faculty members to maintain social, intellectual, and professional contacts, contribute to the ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Campus, and remain informed about on-campus developments and retired faculty benefits programs.

VISION: The CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Retired Faculty AssociationÌý(CURFA), acknowledged and supported by the campus administrative leadership team, enables retirees to contribute their expertise and experience to campus and community life with the objective of furthering the missions of their institution.

MISSION: To celebrate the role of retired faculty for their many years of service to higher education, to their students, and to the ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß to provide a forum for the special concerns and interests of its members; and to extend their association with distinguished friends and colleagues, with the University, its programs, and its future.

AFFILIATION: CURFA is affiliated with the CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Office of Faculty Affairs and reports regularly to the Vice Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs.
A Brief History
- May 2018: Proposal for a CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß retired faculty association
- Jan 2020:New association created for CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß retired faculty
- Feb 2020: Welcome letter to membership
- Jul 2020: Update to membership in light of the COVID-19 pandemic
- Dec 2020: Update to membership on future programming
- Jan 2021: CURFA at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß announces slate of virtual events
Since January 2021, the CURFA at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß has organized more than 30 seminar presentations featuring CU's distinguished professors and faculty experts, in addition to providing research grant opportunities, business meetings, and luncheons with campus leadership to foster collaboration and engagement among the CU ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß retired faculty community.
Becoming a Member
CURFA at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß welcomes members from all categories of retired and soon-to-be retired CU faculty, their spouses and domestic partners, and members of the ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß community with an interest in participating in the association’s activities and programming.
Current and planned programming include:
- Monthly faculty lectures and seminar presentations
- CURFA at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Research Grant Program
- Collaboration with the ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Faculty Assembly, Office of Faculty Affairs, and other campus offices to include retired faculty in community-building initiatives and opportunities to share their expertise
- CURFA at ¶¶Òõ´«Ã½ÔÚÏß business meetings and other social events (e.g., lunches, happy hours, coffee klatches, etc.)
