Spring Mindfulness Series

Join WorkWell this spring to deepen your mindfulness meditation practice. This 4-week mindfulness meditation series is designed for participants who already have completed an introductory mindfulness meditation course and want to further their practice. Each session is 45 minutes and includes education and extended practice time.

The Mindfulness Series is available via Zoom on a drop-in basis. Each session can build upon each other or be taken sporadically.

Session 1: Strengthening Mindful Presence and Attention

We will revisit the foundation tools of mindfulness including posture, breath and mindful attention. Explore what tools help you to 鈥渁rrive鈥 in the present moment. Practice mindful breathing and body awareness in extended silence.

Session 2: Metacognitive Awareness

Metacognition is the practice of thinking about thinking. We will learn how to observe our thoughts vs identifying with them. As we learn to observe our thought processes, we become more self-aware and emotionally regulated.

Session 3: Working with Emotions

How can we stay present when experiencing difficult emotions? We will learn to recognize and name our emotions; notice the way emotions feel in the body and use mindful breathing and movement to help us reset and calm our nervous system.

Session 4: Mindful Communication

Learn to be more present and aware when communicating. We will explore the concepts of nonjudgment, curiosity, deep listening, empathy, and mindful speaking. We will learn how to be more open, curious, and skillful in how we relate to others.

Session 5: Mindfulness of Values, Purpose and Meaning

Mindfulness helps us become more self-aware and intentional in our lives. We become more aware of our values and what is truly meaningful to us. Having clarity of our purpose and values can help us navigate life鈥檚 more challenging moments.听

Session 6: Mindful Self-Compassion in Depth

Learn how to treat yourself like a friend. We will explore the difference between the inner critic vs inner mentor. Learn the difference between tender and fierce self-compassion. Learn the tools of the mindful self-compassion break and soothing touch to ease suffering.

Session 7:听Working with Uncertainty and Change

Learn to recognize how the mind responds to uncertainty and change (worry, rumination, control). Use mindful awareness practices to find stillness in times of uncertainty and change. When we meet uncertainty with a mindful presence and curiosity, we learn to be more mentally flexibility.听

Session 8: Mindful Movement

Learn to cultivate present-moment awareness through intentional movement. Learn to connect breath, body sensations and surroundings while mindful walking and stretching. Mindful movement gives us an opportunity to strengthen our ability to return our attention when the mind wanders during daily activities.
