AHUM pilot guidance for external fellowships (Sept 2025).Ìý AHUM has set a seven-year clock for external fellowships for faculty accepting external funding requiring a change in duties (course buyouts, leave of absence, etc).Ìý This follows the same principles as the sabbatical clock, but can be on a different cycle than the sabbatical clock. Faculty members should consult with chair before applying for such fellowships. ÌýThe chair will then discuss it with the divisional dean.Ìý Ìý ExceptionsÌý can be granted for exceptional circumstances.Ìý If the chair believes that exceptional circumstances are warranted to override the 7-year clock, they can pass that request to the Divisional Dean. Requests for exceptions should be done prior to applying for opportunities.
