Engineering, Social Justice, and Peace (ESJP) Conference 3-6 September 2015, Mayag眉ez, Puerto Rico, USA

Call for Contributions (target: 1 June 2015) and Papers (optional, 1 September 2015)

The 11th annual international Engineering, Social Justice, and Peace (ESJP) Conference will be held in Mayag眉ez, Puerto Rico, 3-6 September 2015. The hosts are the investigators of the project 鈥淐ultivating Responsible Wellbeing in STEM: Social Engagement through Personal Ethics鈥 (NSF #1449489) and CoHemis (Centro Hemisf茅rico de Cooperaci贸n en Investigaci贸n y Educaci贸n en Ingenier铆a y Ciencia Aplicada).

They invite proposals for contributions on any topic that offer thoughtful, grounded inquiry and insight into the intersections of engineering with social justice and/or peace. Topics of particular interest related to the host project are 鈥渞esponsible wellbeing鈥, 鈥渁ppropriate technology鈥, 鈥渃apabilities approach鈥, 鈥渧alue sensitive design鈥, 鈥減articipatory design鈥, and 鈥渃ommunity engagement鈥. Also, given the conference location of Puerto Rico, proposals are invited that explore the impacts of colonialism and neocolonialism on social justice, engineering, and technology.听
