Lawn and Garden Equipment Page

Beginning June 1, 2025, state agencies cannot use gasoline-powered push and hand-held lawn and garden equipment with an internal combustion engine smaller than 19kw (25 horsepower) from June 1 to August 31.

Beginning June 1, 2026, and by June 1 of each following year, the university must submit a report for the prior calendar year to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Air Pollution Control Division (APCD). The report must include a list of subject lawn and garden equipment that was used or might have been used from June 1 to August 31 of the previous year.

The following is an example of equipment that must be converted to electric during the summer period:

鈼 Generator 鈥 used for lawn and garden (NOTE: gas-powered generators only need to be reported under this regulation if the generator was used for lawn and garden purposes. This is to reduce further emissions from lawn and garden.)

鈼 Power Washer

鈼 Push Lawn Mower

鈼 Pruner

鈼 Rotary Tiller
