Upcoming Events
Thursday, January 22, 2026 鈥 12:45-1:30 p.m. 鈥 Econ 5: A representative from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Dr. Julie Percival, will be on campus to talk about how the 鈥済old standard of economic data鈥 informs your economic life both personally and professionally. BLS has the information you need for the career you seek.
Dr. Julie Percival is the Regional Economist for the Dallas Regional Office of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. She received her Master of Public Policy and PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas. Dr. Percival began working for BLS in 2016, and supervises the publication of over 200 regional news releases annually and speaks regularly to the public. Through her interactions with the press, researchers, business and labor organizations, and the general public, she promotes a better understanding of BLS data and its potential impact on day-to-day business and life decisions.
Students have also expressed enthusiasm for meeting faculty informally. If you鈥檇 be interested in dropping by for a 5鈥10 minute chat on Monday or Wednesday, 2鈥3 p.m. in Econ 5, let me know. Once I hear from interested faculty, I鈥檒l set up a simple signup sheet so we can slot visits on days without events or workshops.
