WIE is here to celebrate and support the unique experiences and achievements of women students in economics听at CU 抖阴传媒在线.
We here to build a space where you can meet others, share ideas, and explore economics together鈥攚hether you're majoring in Econ or just curious about the subject. Everyone with an interest is welcome!
This program is open to all CU 抖阴传媒在线 students, faculty, and staff and does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, creed, religion, veteran status, marital status, political affiliation, political philosophy, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression, in accordance with state, federal, and Regent policy.

Thursday, January 22, 2026 鈥 12:45-1:30 p.m. 鈥 Econ 5: A representative from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Dr. Julie Percival, will be on campus to talk about how the 鈥済old standard of economic data鈥 informs your economic life both personally and professionally. BLS has the information you need for the career you seek.

Dr. Julie Percival is the Regional Economist for the Dallas Regional Office of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. She received her Master of Public Policy and PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas. Dr. Percival began working for BLS in 2016, and supervises the publication of over 200 regional news releases annually and speaks regularly to the public. Through her interactions with the press, researchers, business and labor organizations, and the general public, she promotes a better understanding of BLS data and its potential impact on day-to-day business and life decisions.

Faculty鈥揝tudent Meetups
Students have also expressed enthusiasm for meeting faculty informally. If you鈥檇 be interested in dropping by for a 5鈥10 minute chat on Monday or Wednesday, 2鈥3 p.m. in Econ 5, let me know. Once I hear from interested faculty, I鈥檒l set up a simple signup sheet so we can slot visits on days without events or workshops.

Guest Speaker: Nicholas Sly, Vice President, Economist, and Denver Branch Executive at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City
The Econ Club and Women in Economics are hosting Nicholas Sly.. Nick will be giving a conversational, no-slide-deck briefing. He鈥檒l walk students through the national and regional outlook and discuss key indicators shaping Colorado, New Mexico, and the broader Tenth District. Topics will include employment, inflation, housing, GDP, energy, agriculture, banking, and current monetary policy.听

Guest Speaker: Dennis Lewis, Econ Alum
Women in Economics is hosting Dennis Lewis. Dennis will come and speak a little about "Change and how I came to find a home at the School of Economics. I would also like to mention my experience in seeing what Title 9 has done for women's sports, which led me to funding endowments for CU Women's Soccer and in Econ." He will also bring the guide puppy he is training.

Join us for a conversation with听Daniel Katz, CU 抖阴传媒在线 alum(Economics and English), now Managing Principal at Steele Street Private Wealth Management. Daniel will share his journey from majoring in Econ to building a career in wealth management鈥攁nd why he believes jobs rooted in human interaction, communication, and judgment听remain secure in the age of AI. He鈥檚 excited to connect, answer questions, and offer mentorship to students exploring careers in economics, finance, advising, and client-centered fields. All students are welcome!

Undergraduate Economics majors are invited to a virtual networking event. Students will have the opportunity to join breakout rooms with alumni from 15 universities across the nation, learning about their career paths and receiving guidance on navigating the field. Students should register using the link in the flyer, Zoom link to be sent to registered participants on Tuesday.

Kait Eschbach from McKinsey鈥檚 Denver office is hosting a women鈥檚 breakfast and looking to connect with econ majors. McKinsey hires many students with our background, and they鈥檙e eager to collaborate on events, workshops, and networking.
