CIEST, Center for Infrastructure, Energy, and Space Testing provides lab, pilot, and large-scale experiments
for geotechnical centrifuges, structural dynamics, and material testing of metals, composites and concretes.
Each test is customized to meet the need under controlled environments

Explore Our Facilities

CIEST is equipped with a series of centrifuges from small teaching units to large industrial-scale machinesenabling a full spectrum of
geotechnical research.Structural lab lists four hydraulic actuators, covering both uniaxialand bi-axial testing ranging from 110 kip and 220kip.
Largest actuator can handle up to one million pounds.Materials testing is fully supported by several MTS and Instron.Combination of these
explores new ideas, proves the concepts, and leads to the success of research and development expanding theboundaries of innovations

Explore Our Projects

CIEST Projects are designed to demonstrate bold ideas into engineering solutions in all scales from
small to large so that laboratory innovations find a systematic way to progress. This approach brings
researchers, students, and industry experts all together to test hypotheses and discover new technologies.

Undergraduate Involvement

CIEST offers students hands-on experience in industrial testing where interactions through faculty, graduate students,
and industry experts nourishes the growth of knowledge and networks. CIEST is committed to develop undergraduates through the
design of experiments, set up tests and analyze results, gaining a full understanding of how research is conducted from start to finish.

Students work on hands-on lab activities that strengthen problem solving and introduce real testing methods.

Students take part in special projects and competitions that let them apply classroom learning in creative and challenging ways.

Students receive guidance on technical tasks and gain experience by supporting faculty and research teams.

CIEST Community

CIEST operates with a small professional staff and a large team of students, postdocs, faculties and industry experts;
therefore, people are at the core of every discovery through seamless collaborations and widespread expertise.

Faculty lead research efforts across CIEST
and guide students through innovativetesting, design,
and analysis work.

Staff provide technical, administrative, and operational support that keepsCIEST’s labs, programs, and research activities running smoothly.

Graduate and postgraduate students drive advanced research projects, using CIEST’s facilities to develop new solutions in engineering.
